A TentBox is a large investment, and the last thing anyone wants is the risk of someone stealing it.
While most TentBoxers never encounter any issues, there are a few precautions you can take to give you peace of mind on all your adventures – whether you’re on the road, pitched up at a campsite or parked at home.
Utilise TentBox security solutions
We’ve developed some security solutions designed to deter potential thieves and keep your TentBox safe.
- Security nuts: We recommend installing the Security Nuts, which make it difficult for thieves to remove the mounting brackets without specialist tools.
- Security alarm: Then there’s the Security Alarm for your TentBox which is triggered by any unauthorised movement or tampering, creating an audible deterrent.
- Security kit: You can enhance protection even further with the Datatag Security Kit. This tags your TentBox with a code, allowing the authorities to track and recover it in case of theft.
By combining this comprehensive set of security solutions, you’ll help to effectively safeguard your TentBox.
Make sure it’s insured
Like any valuable item, you might want to consider insuring your TentBox against theft or damage. There are several options available for your peace of mind.
- Camping insurance: The Camping and Caravanning Club offers a great tent camping insurance product. This not only covers your TentBox, but also protects your camping holiday, should there be an issue while you’re away.
- Home insurance: Most home insurance policies cover items taken out of the home, such as your mobile phone or laptop, so it’s worth giving them a call to check if your TentBox can also be covered.
- Motor insurance: Contacting your vehicle insurance provider will give you all the information you need regarding whether or not a TentBox can be covered under your policy.
Park in secure areas
When you're not camping, it’s a good idea to find a secure place to park, such as a designated car park or areas covered by CCTV. The more visible your car and TentBox are, the less attractive they become to potential thieves, so well-lit, busy areas are also a good option.
If you decide to take your TentBox off your vehicle at any point, make sure you store it in a safe place. If you’re lucky enough to have a garage, this will prevent it from being exposed to the elements as well as potential thieves.
While we hope that you won’t encounter any problems at all, it’s always best to be on the safe side. Taking a few simple precautions will help to ensure you can enjoy your TentBox adventures for many years to come.
