It’s been a great season exploring the outdoors, but as we close in on the colder months, you might be thinking about preparing your camping gear for winter storage – and that includes your TentBox GO.
Properly storing your TentBox during the off-season not only helps to extend its life, but ensures it's ready to go the moment warmer weather rolls around again.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to keep your TentBox GO in peak condition over winter. From cleaning and drying to finding the ideal storage spot, here's our top tips.
Leave it on the car
Like all our TentBox models, the TentBox GO is incredibly durable and waterproof, so you have the option of leaving it on your car all year round. If you decide that’s right for you, it’s a good idea to regularly check that:
- Your roof bars are attached securely to your car
- Your TentBox is attached securely to your roof bars.
We use strong nuts to prevent them from loosening over time, but driving puts a lot of force on the TentBox so it's best practice to make sure everything is still in the correct place. We recommend getting into the habit of checking at least once every couple of weeks, or more often if you drive regularly.
Keep it safe
If you’re planning to keep your TentBox GO on your car permanently, you might decide to take some precautionary measures to avoid theft or damage. We have a range of accessories designed to secure your TentBox, and you could also look into insurance options.

Remove for storage
Some people prefer to take their TentBox off the car during the winter, especially if they know they’re not going on any trips for a while. A great thing about the TentBox GO is its ability to store easily.
Unlike the rest of our range, the GO arrives flat-packed. This means that if you do prefer to remove it from the car during the low seasons, you’re able to pack it down and store it in the convenient Storage Bag.
This is ideal if you don’t have a garage, or you live in an apartment with minimal storage space.
Keep it clean and dry
Before packing away for any length of time, like over winter, you’ll want to ensure the TentBox GO is clean and completely dry. It's a good idea to remove anything from inside, open it up and air it out fully for a few hours before closing it up for winter.
Whether you’re storing it away or keeping it on the car, you should consider airing it out every few weeks. This helps to ensure any moisture that may have built up from humid air is able to escape. Reducing condensation is an important part of getting a long life out of your TentBox.
Taking a little time to properly store your TentBox GO for the winter can make a big difference when it’s time to hit the road again. By following these simple steps, you’ll help to protect it from unnecessary wear and tear.
Not only will this keep it in great shape, but it will also give you peace of mind knowing that your TentBox GO is ready to go as soon as adventure calls. With just a bit of prep now, you’ll be set for many more seasons of hassle-free travel and exploration.
