We recently launched our latest roof tent design – the TentBox GO. At just 33kg, it’s the lightest TentBox in our range.
Arriving flat-packed, ready to assemble and install yourself – it's easier to handle and store at home when not in use.
Introducing the world’s lightest roof tent
We first started working on the idea for the GO nearly two years ago. Having learned a lot from the production of our other TentBox designs, we knew we had the potential to create something amazing that’s never been done before.
From concept to creation
It’s taken years of innovation to get to this stage, and we’re so proud to be launching a product that’s like nothing we've seen before, with so much hard work and consideration put into making it the best it can be.
But where did it all begin?
Step 1: Design brief
We set out to design a lightweight, easier-to-handle and more affordable roof tent. Our product team here in the UK developed several different ideas before deciding that flat-pack was the answer.
Bringing multiple benefits to our customers, flat-packing meant we could develop the TentBox GO at a lower price point and ship it in a smaller box, making it more accessible and easier to store away while not in use.
Step 2: Manufacturing
We spent months working alongside our manufacturer to develop such an innovative product. Of course, there were some challenges along the way.
We quickly realised that we needed a simple, pole-less structure for the GO, so we developed self-erecting vents that pop up when you open the tent.
It also took some time to perfect the stretched fabric bed. After working on a few different ideas, we developed a bar to support the base and make it more comfortable for two people to share.
Step 3: Product testing
The GO is vastly different from anything we’ve designed before, so we put a thorough testing process in place to make sure it ticked all the boxes and met the very high standards we hold for all our products.
Getting it right from the beginning was incredibly important to us. As a result of our commitment to product testing, we set up our own on-the-ground quality control team who now oversee all our TentBox products.
Using the insight from our dedicated product testers, we identified the need for a little more ventilation. We developed an additional air vent at the bottom to improve airflow, a skylight on the roof to let in more natural light, as well as a toggle which secures the front window down.
Step 4: Launch
After nearly two years of development, we were ready to launch our world-leading product to both the US and the UK. Seeing 500 units ready for adventure is a testament to our team's hard work and dedication.
With the first batch hitting the US in July, the TentBox Community has already started sharing their setups.
