Jess got a TentBox roof tent to turn her car into a camper, enabling her to take road trips across France. She really is living the vanlife without the need of a van!
A bit about you...
Having graduated as an Environmental Scientist, I moved to London to work as a model and stunt woman. After a few months I went to Chamonix to visit a friend and ski some of the famous terrain. Five months later, I am still here.
I’ve had crazy powder days, climbed and skied many mountains (Mont Blanc was the highlight), discovered new hobbies, made more friends and found the perfect adventure companion… my rescue husky Lascar.
Life in the mountains is pretty sweet for now. Being based in France gives endless road tripping options, and I can’t wait for the adventures to come in my TentBox.
What do you use your TentBox for?
For the last few years I’ve been really inspired by the vanlife movement and the idea of setting off on epic road trips, taking with me everything I would need.
However, I am also very attached to my Hilux, and knew I couldn’t justify having both! A TentBox is the perfect solution. I can take a bed with me wherever I go, while saving valuable storage space in the back of my truck. Lascar needs somewhere to sleep too!
Best trip in your TentBox so far:
My boyfriend and I went on a spontaneous trip through the French Riviera and back up to Chamonix via Provence and the Verdon Gorge.
We spent our days relaxing on the beaches, cliff jumping and hiking. In the evenings we would escape the crowds on small roads, always managing to find new and exciting locations to cook dinner and eventually settle for the night.
Favourite thing about your TentBox:
How easy it is to put up, even on my own. I will often come back to the car in the dark, exhausted after a day of activities, and still manage to be in bed within 5 minutes having popped the TentBox up myself. It lends itself perfectly to spontaneous trips, planning on the go… my favourite!
I also love all the zip and mesh features that allow you to enjoy your surroundings from the comfort of a bed. Even better with a coffee and croissant!
What would you say to someone thinking about getting a TentBox?
Do it!
Anything else you want to mention (i.e tips and tricks for TentBox, other things about you etc.)
Leave a camping lamp, duvet and pillows in the box so when you get back from a long day you can jump straight into bed, and save storage space in the car.
Combined with the awesome mattress you’ll forget you’re camping at all!
It is also a great alternative to a spare room! Living in the Alps I often have friends coming to visit, but space is limited in my little cabin. The TentBox is the perfect solution, and everyone is always pleasantly surprised by how comfy it is.
