The TentBox Community headed to Northumberland last week for an extraordinary meet-up under the stars.
This sold-out event featured some fun activities set within the picturesque location of Kielder, providing the perfect opportunity for the community to get together, share stories, disconnect from the hustle of everyday life and relax in the great outdoors.
Here’s a closer look at some of the most memorable moments from the event.
Picturesque views
A few patches of October sunshine between the downpours made for some stunning, autumnal views across Kielder. One of the wildest landscapes in England with an ancient past, it was the perfect place to pitch up the TentBoxes.
Golden leaves and misty horizons made for a soothing backdrop to the weekend's activities. We enjoyed beautiful landscapes all around us including sky-high pine forests, as well as the sprawling Kielder Water – the largest man-made lake in the UK.
Sidecar rides through Kielder Forest
Come rain or shine, the Takeover host ensured there was plenty of adventure on offer! One of the highlights of the weekend was the exhilarating sidecar rides through the winding trails of Kielder Forest and the surrounding countryside.
Guests were invited to join the ‘Sidecar Guys’ on scenic rides from the campsite, twisting and turning through the quaint local villages and heading for the national park and Scottish borders.
For many, this was their first time in a sidecar, and it’s safe to say it added a bit of adrenaline to the weekend!
Dark sky stargazing
Part of Northumberland’s International Dark Sky Park, Kielder is one of the best stargazing locations in the UK. With minimal light pollution, the skies are crystal clear, making it a perfect spot for amateur astronomers and curious campers alike to observe the cosmos.
We were lucky enough to enjoy a guided stargazing session with two astronomers from Kielder Observatory. They brought portable telescopes to give us an interactive workshop right at the campsite, where we were able to see Saturn and the moon up close, as well as the Milky Way stretching across the sky and several other famous clusters and constellations.
It was hard to tear ourselves away from the view, knowing we might not get another chance like this anytime soon. It was a fascinating experience for everyone.
