How to Set Up and Use Your TentBox BaseLight
The BaseLight is a complete campsite lighting system in one product: an elevated tripod main light paired with a detachable magnetic light that doubles as a powerbank. Set it up as the anchor of your camp for wide, even illumination, then detach the portable light whenever you need light (or power) somewhere else. This guide covers unboxing, assembly, charging, and day-to-day use.
What's in the box
-
BaseLight main lamp unit (with detachable magnetic Portable Light)
-
USB-C charging cable
-
Tripod (detachable legs)
-
Ground pegs (x3)
-
Padded carry case
-
User manual
Before you start
-
Choose flat, stable ground for the tripod. If the ground is soft or you expect wind, use the ground pegs to secure it.
-
The BaseLight is IP44 rated, so it handles rain and splashes, but it shouldn't be submerged or exposed to heavy water pressure.
-
Keep the unit at least 2m from any open flame – it contains a lithium-ion battery that must not be exposed to high or extreme temperatures.
Step-by-step setup
-
Unpack the parts: Lay out the main lamp unit, tripod legs, ground pegs, and USB-C cable so everything's to hand.
-
Assemble the tripod: Attach the tripod legs to the base of the unit, attach each leg individually, ensure it is fully secure into the slot then pull down the latch to lock each leg in place.
-
Adjust the height: Once the legs are attached, you can now untighten the extendable poles one at a time & adjust to your desired height; at your desired height, now tighten the knobs & ensure they are secure before attaching the main light ensuring that you clamp it into position.
-
Peg it down (optional but recommended): On soft or uneven ground, or in windy conditions, push the three ground pegs through the base of the tripod legs into the ground to keep the BaseLight stable.
-
Power on the main light: Press the power button to turn on the main light. Press again to cycle through the available brightness levels.
-
Detach the portable light if needed: The smaller magnetic light on the right hand side of the main unit detaches for handheld use, or can be hung via its hook wherever you need a second light source – at the cooking station, inside the tent, or on a bag strap.
Charging
-
Connect the included USB-C cable to the Input port to charge the BaseLight from a mains adapter, power bank, or PowerStation.
-
The charging indicator light shows charging status – refer to the icon guide in your manual for what each state means.
-
The BaseLight also charges passively from direct sunlight. Full solar charging takes around 32 hours, so it's best used as a top-up method alongside USB-C charging rather than your primary charging method.
-
Low battery warning: if the lamp flashes 12 times in a minute, the battery is low and needs recharging.
Using the Portable Light as a powerbank
The detachable Portable Light has its own 5V 1A output, so you can plug a phone, camera, or other small USB device straight into it to charge on the go.

Maintenance and care
-
Wipe the lamp, tripod, and light modules regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
-
For tougher dirt (mud, dust), use mild soap – avoid harsh chemicals or solvents.
-
Dry thoroughly before storing or charging, to prevent moisture damage.
-
Keep the USB-C ports clean and free of debris, and cover them when not in use to keep out water and dust.
-
Store in the included carry case when not in use.
General precautions
-
Use only the appropriate power supply as specified.
-
Don't leave the BaseLight fully discharged for long periods.
-
To preserve battery life and functionality, charge the BaseLight once every 3 months if it isn't in regular use.
-
Cover the USB port when not in use to prevent water and dust ingress.
-
Do not place the light on, or within 2m of, a controlled open fire. It contains a liquefied lithium-ion battery that must not be exposed to high or extreme temperatures.
-
If the lamp flashes 12 times every minute, the battery is low – recharge as soon as possible.
