"Our only regret? We didn’t buy one sooner!"

Welcome back to TentBox Customer Stories. Our favourite series where we get to catch up with TentBox owners and discuss their travels.

This week we spoke to Amy, the owner of a TentBox Lite that sits on top of her Land Rover Discovery 3.

Tell us why you chose a TentBox

We bought our TentBox for the sense of freedom! As newbie campers we mainly go to camp sites so we have the security of facilities and electric hook up, but we have a trip planned in a couple of weeks and would love to try out wild camping in Glencoe!

Where do you take your TentBox?

We mainly do a lot of hiking, mountains in the Lake District and Wales and just love exploring new towns/places. We have just recently purchased paddle boards and kayaks and cannot wait to get these out then have our TentBox to retreat to when the weather gets cold.

Who do you travel with?

There is myself and my husband Shaun and then our two cocker spaniels Poppy and Charlie.

We love our TentBox so much because we live pretty stressful work lives, we both work in The NHS – I’m (almost!) a qualified midwife and have been working hard for my training for the past three years, and my husband works for the Ambulance service as an emergency medical technician.

Getting away into nature is our “down time”. It’s our relaxation and escapism from everyday life. There is nothing more peaceful than relaxing in a campsite, only hearing the birds singing and the whistling kettle! It really provides us with that amazing escapism from our stressful NHS lives. We love it. We wouldn’t be able to afford to go to all the places we do if it wasn’t for TentBox!

What was your most recent TentBox adventure?

Most recently we went to Wales – we stayed in a beautiful campsite in Beddgelert.

We booked a “campervan” pitch, so had hardstanding and electric hook up, plus a little grass area for relaxing. There were plenty of walks direct from the campsite, including Snowdon.

We had originally planned to do Snowdon but the weather was that nice we didn’t fancy doing any hard work that weekend we just wanted to sit and relax at the campsite and go wild swimming! So we did that instead.

The best thing about TentBox is that we know we can go back whenever our work life allows, due to the very small cost to stay at campsites, it means we can return whenever we like!

We went out for the day to Betws-y-Coed and had a wander round the shops, ate too much ice cream then had a wander to some waterfalls! It took no time at all to pack up camp, get on our way, and then unpack camp again after our day out.

We love the freedom, adventure and escapism! We’ve wanted a TentBox for about the past year, and only a couple of months ago took the plunge to buy one. Our only regret? We didn’t buy one sooner!
