This week we caught up with TentBox Community Member Elisha, to chat about her travel adventures with her partner. Their recent trip to the Scottish Highlands and Northern Ireland is sure to inspire your next trip.
What’s your TentBox setup?
We have a TentBox Classic on a Mercedes A-Class.
How do you travel?
We travel as a couple – me and my boyfriend. We typically stay on campsites but would be more than willing to give it a go wild camping too!
Tell us about a recent TentBox experience
We recently spent 10 nights touring around the Scottish Highlands, Isle of Skye and NC500, and also just got back from a week travelling around the North of Ireland.
As 2 novice campers with no experience whatsoever, the TentBox Classic has been an absolute godsend. We actually find it quite humorous watching other campers struggle to get their traditional tents up and down in all weathers.
Our setup is so easy to pop up and has kept us warm and safe in all weathers.

About the Scottish Highlands, Isle of Skye and NC500
TentBox travellers love the Scottish Highlands, Isle of Skye and NC500, as they provide ample adventure and are well suited to camping with a car.
The Scottish Highlands encompass a large, mountainous area of Northwest Scotland. With a varied landscape from mountains, to lakes and even mediaeval ruins dotted around, there is a sense of adventure at every turn. The Highlands are loved for their remote and rugged beauty, where you can really immerse yourself in nature.
Meanwhile, if you want to venture to an even more remote location the Isle of Skye is ideal for a day trip or weekend getaway. It’s connected to the North of Scotland by the bridge but feels quite different to the mainland. Known for its picturesque fishing villages and stunning coastal walks, the Isle of Skye is a must-visit if you’re in that part of the country.
The NC500 refers to the route going from Inverness Castle across the Scottish Highlands and is a 516-mile scenic route. Most people will attempt part of the NC500 while exploring Scotland, with some even seeking to take on the whole touring route.

Northern Ireland is a paradise for walkers and hikers. With plenty of different options, you can enjoy coastal walks one day and mountain hikes the next. Ireland is loved for its pastures green (owing to its generous rainfall – so bring your raincoat), and if you like rich green fields, ever-changing forests and nature reserves, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
If you want to get out and see some sights, Northern Ireland has a rich cultural history with plenty of National Trust sites that allow visitors. Florence Court, Castle Coole and Hillsborough Castle and Gardens are always favourites, as well as Belfast Castle if you’re venturing into the city.
If you prefer natural landmarks, then the Giant’s Causeway is a must-see. It’s an incredible natural wonder, consisting of polygonal basalt columns that were created 60 million years ago. You can also experience the beauty of one of the finest show caves in Europe at the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark, open March to October.
