3 Years With a TentBox Lite: An Owner's Honest Review

Wondering whether a roof tent will help you get away more often? For a lot of owners that's the real test – not the one big trip a year, but the spontaneous weekend escapes that a quick setup makes possible.

We recently caught up with TentBoxer Amy Fry (@amys_littletrips) to hear how three years with the TentBox Lite has changed how often she gets outdoors – and why she's already onto her second generation of the tent. Here's what she had to say:

"My first solo camping trip in a regular tent was very anxiety inducing, my tent was almost impossible to put up by myself so I had to ask for help."

"I was worried about spiders and things getting into my tent the whole night that I didn’t sleep well at all. And my airbed was a nightmare to blow up. Fast forward to my first solo trip with the TentBox and oh my god, what a breeze!"

"I got my Tentbox Lite just over 3 years ago and it’s without a doubt the best purchase I’ve made."

"I got it for a number of reasons, the main one being i wanted to be able to go on solo spontaneous trips and feel confident to pitch up a tent by myself. I also wanted one due to the fact they are off the floor meaning away from spiders... Have yet to encounter a spider in my tent so that says a lot!

Recently, Amy decided to upgrade to the TentBox Lite (Refresh version). While she's now on a newer model, the reason she loved her first TentBox hasn't changed.

"I started with the TentBox Lite (2025), and recently upgraded to the TentBox Lite (Refresh edition). Both have been incredible — different generations, same feeling every time I open it up and I'm ready to go."

"I went to South Dean Camping in North Devon and had the nicest time exploring the coast with no worries about setting up. The windows are such a good bonus, it honestly feels like a tent-shaped van!"

It's completely changed the way Amy goes camping. Instead of saving it for one big trip each year, she's getting away more often and making the most of weekends whenever she can:

"This is honestly how I manage to do so many little trips. I've had a TentBox for three years now, and it's genuinely one of the best purchases I've ever made.

"Small weekend adventures are so much easier with it – I've gone camping way more than I ever did before. It's changed how often I actually get away, not just the big annual trip, but proper regular weekends."

Whether it's a last-minute weekend away or a longer camping trip, Amy's experience is a great reminder that sometimes it's the little adventures that make the biggest memories.
