Best UK staycation destinations to take your TentBox

Feb 6, 2021 | Travel Tips

TentBox is the ideal set up for wild campers who want the ability to pitch up anywhere in the UK. Ready to go in just 30 seconds, the tent’s 6cm-thick high-density memory foam mattress makes any spot you choose super-comfortable.

But where to go? There are so many beautiful spots for a staycation in the UK. Here’s our pick of the top pitches…

  • Staycation In Assynt

Assynt is often overlooked, but is truly one of Scotland’s most breathtaking natural landscapes. It is tucked away in the northwest corner of the country, peaked with mountains, crowned with lochs and peppered with stachs. It’s a sparsely populated place, but becoming an increasingly popular spot to stop in an eco-friendly way.

Setting up a TentBox in Assynt will lend you views like the Wailing Widow Waterfall, or the Kylesku Bridge.

  • Enjoy Quiet Time At Llangennith Beach

Facing west out into the mighty Atlantic, Llangennith is the surfing capital of Gower. If you’re searching for consistent swells, take the TentBox to this three mile stretch of shore. If you’re looking to learn surfing, there are plenty of surf schools in summer. If not, Llangennith sports dunes and miles of wonderful waters edge to wander along.

  • Explore The English Countryside In The New Forest

Spanning Dorset and Hampshire, the New Forest is a beautiful landscape of woodland, moor-land and beach. As a National Park, there are obviously many designated campsites, as well as tucked away places to park and pitch your Tent Box.

Places like Cadnam’s Pool. A microcosm in itself, this small area has everything from tall beech to heathland. As across the whole forest, there are ponies and deer roaming freely. But the pool is also a great location for bird watching – especially finches, firecrests, woodlarks and the lesser spotted woodpecker.

  • Escape The City At Lee Valley, Hertfordshire

If you’re on a quick turnaround, but need to escape the big city, the Almost Wild campsite in Hertfordshire’s Lee Valley might be your saviour. Even though this staycation spot is less than five miles from the groan of the M25, it is green, quiet and calm.

Popping up your TentBox here, on the banks of the River Lee, is a great opportunity to return to the fundamentals of camping. No need for showers this close to the river; facilities amount to a composting toilet. But for city-folk needing some much needed escape from the smoke, that’s what it’s all about.

  • Enjoy A Staycation In Cornwall

Cornwall can be a bit busy in the summer; campsites fill up fast. But there are some great free camping locations – ideal for parking and pitching a TentBox.

At the National Trust car park by the Lizard lighthouse, you’re spoiled by beautiful ocean views. Even better, there’s a toilet block that’s open all night. The Lizard is the UK’s most southern point, with a rare geology that has created a haven for exceptional flora. Sandy bays, picturesque ports and seafood restaurants make the Lizard a top spot for a TentBox stop.
